expanding on that, abbas' idea of unilaterally pushing for statehood is only going to make things worse imo. even if the PA manages to get the recognitions, which seems possible considering the international communities' stance toward israel, there just isn't a functioning authority right now.fundamental divisions into militant + quasi-militant factions, no national unity. no responsible, capable leadership in sight. this means that the government won't get anything done in the best case, in the worst case they will wage war, internally + externally.
