I dropped my iPhone down the bog last weekend. This won't end well, I remember thinking. Two days in a bag of rice and everything seemed OK. Then yesterday I lost all network coverage. Tried all the soft resets and restarts, then opted for a factory restore this morning. Damn thing wouldn't get beyond the firmware update.
To the Genius Bar...
Soon as the nice lady Genius™ saw my red iTunes logo she started frothing. Before long we were surrounded by pimply Geniuses™ cooing over this new error screen with a RED LOGO. What did you do? We've never seen such a thing!
After a few more failed attempts to restore it, nice lady Genius™ gave me a shiny replacement phone, avoiding the $299 charge because it was a hardware fault. Then she remembered to open the phone and check the logic board as she should have done before being distracted by the RED LOGO. Turns out said board had rusted from water damage - oh really, I'd no idea - but since the deal was done I still wouldn't have to pay the 300 bucks.
And, since iOS8 only launched today in Australia, nobody behind the Genius™ Bar had yet seen the factory error screen with the new red iTunes logo.
Thank you Apple, last week my iPhone was filled with shit from (from U2) and dropped in piss, but now I have a new phone and $300 in my pocket! Who wants a beer?
- So after a few beers, new phone down the bog...ETM
- Result! I dropped my iphone and the screen stopped working (didn't crack) and they replaced it no questions asked********

- Red logo might be simply a display error not a software thing.monospaced
