I've recently signed up to fucking CC for PS and Illy, primarily because I receive a lot of files from a wide variety of clients, and so need to be able to open the files, which are increasingly sent as CC.

My use for Illy and PS hasn't changed, nor will do (because I only ever work with strokes and single-colour fills, no fancy gradients, strokes, etc etc for me) for years to come, but because of file troubles, I'm now bound to the modern equivalent of their yearly upgrade cycle.

    Excellent.

Yes, I could just demand clients saved in legacy formats, or flatten everything and ensure PDF-compatability's turned on, but that's sometimes flakey anyway, and it puts a dissuasionary barrier between me and my clients.

So basically, I'm paying a subscription to continue doing the exact same work I can do with my paid-for edition of version Illy/PS 10.

    Thanks, Adobe.

    • Admittedly I'm possibly a somewhat outlier use case, but still - I fucking hate the subscription mechanicdetritus
    • ..and as soon as an able competitor rears its head, I'll be off like a flash.
      Rip-off bastards.
