as soon as I saw "it'll be an extension of your iPhone" that killed it for me. Why, on Earth, would anyone want to exercise with a phone on them?? I want a nice, simple, good looking bracelet to track fitness.

I do NOT want to replace my watch and look like some trend chasing teenager. No thank you.

To Org - Apple rarely has done anything revolutionary, but that doesn't matter because they take a great idea that someone else poorly executed and perfect it. It's the polish and design attention that has catapulted Apple to the top. Anyone could/should have done it, shit, they should have just started copying the design details 10 years ago!! Yet the rest out there are just a heard, chasing random ideas, then discarding, then another good idea, but thrown away before it can be refined. Stupid, imho.

The big question remains is that the "heard" is getting very close to the quality now and offering more flexibility (iTunes is almost a deal breaker fro many, especially as phones get larger storage, cameras are better...lack of expansion is also close to a deal breaker for thsoe of us that want to take more photos/videos...my stupid iPhone just told me I was "full" at the top of a mtn).

Personally, I think they've seen their glory days, now they just need to keep the cash machine going, which they can do, but they need to be more nimble, not expect the world to just wait 3 years for a real update.
