what I've noticed is that when people find out I do "graphic design" they are very candid about asking me how much I make. I've been asked straight up in front of everyone at dinner parties. Maybe it's because I'm a college drop out in a creative field, I don't know. So my new rule is I'll disclose how much I make if they do to- as well as anyone else listening in.
since i've made the transition to UI designer I just get blank stares now which is very nice. no more 'my wife has a candle company can you make her a logo?' or 'so you're good with photoshop?'. weight off of my shoulders
