The fact it's anonymous means every post is treated equally. The opposite would be Reddit, so on Reddit if you post an unpopular opinion only 5 people have to click the arrow next to your post and it's hidden, they don't even have to pose a counter argument JUST disagree with you.
This means the discussion becomes a circle jerk of popular opinion and shit memes. On 4chan if someone disagrees with you they have to actually put up a better argument.
Also the fact you can post an image with every post without it getting in the way of the text and the live updating threads make it pretty addictive.
