brundlefly, some great points.
alot of great posts, really.clark04.com and dean4america.com have demystified the points that will affect my decision, and vote.
i know that the only way to grapple the die-hard republicans (my parents in middle america) which are somewhat flustered for the first time with their chosen leader, are to present the strongest alternative possible.
I don't think my father would vote Democratic if that candidate wasn't Gen. Clark. Or maybe Kerry, since he seems to be a Republican in sheep's clothing at times. They both have military backgrounds and are strong against Bush's record with tax plans, welfare, and education. I think a lot of people who regularly vote Republican, and are wavering this year, may be faced w/ the same decision.
I don't like Kerry. And it seems I'm pretty level with most of you on this matter.
I don't think middle American straight-down-the-ticket Republicans would vote for Dean.
Veterans and baby-boomers want a strong leader w/ a military background (that's a reason we'll be seeing a flight-suit bedecked Bush in the next few months...the other, obviously, is because he couldn't possibly promote himself behind any other platform, because he failed miserably at everything else.).
The press has started to criticize Dean more, but that's only because it's what they do to the frontrunner.
So, right now, I'm at Clark 55%, Dean 45%.
Ultimately, they both are worlds better than Bush. But rather than making this the lesser of two evils (or even the evil of two lessers), I'm casting an idealist vote and, for once, trying to elect that candidate that America NEEDS. A good president.
