Most my friends come from vinyl. So serato. Its more fun. I have knob tweaker friends here in chicago that use Traktor. But they usually play one type of music. I wouldn't like to try to play funk, soul or old disco on traktor.
In chicago most djs are using serato or straight CDs. It makes it easier to transition djs. If i play at a nice bar or club most djs just use a thumbdrive and the pioneer nexus system. Personally i dont like systems that sync beats. I love it when theres a long mix and the mix starts to slip a little. Its more human.
Ive noticed a few young kids that play juke and booty on a crap version of traktor and a PC laptop. In the end its whatever comes out of the speakers matters.
As far as NI controllers go. Ive seen a couple. Mostly on new eager djs. I dont really like having to hook up controllers when i come to an already crowded dj booth.
