Conspiracy theory (for fun):
You're a government or terrorist group and there is high value intelligence to be gained from the freescale employees. Pay a militia or some other group to hi-jack the plane. Torture, extract, manipulate the freescale people. When you're done, your government "finds" the plane. You send in your special forces, kill the hi-jackers, cover up your tracks and come out the hero.
