It was mentioned earlier in this thread that dozens of plane have disappeared just within the past decades. I don't think all of them were abducted by terrorists.
If it was terrorism, why haven't they taken any further steps? It doesn't make sense to sit back and let this become a huge international story. If they were going to hijack the plane for a Sept 11 type attack, they would have done it already.
