I don't know what its called technically but pot suppresses the part of your brain responsible for dreaming so when you stop smoking common withdrawal symptoms include sleep disorders and vivid crazy dreams and nightmares. When I quit I could not sleep at all, terrible insomnia. I stayed awake for 48 hours once. I'd try to sleep, put my head down and it was like my brain wasn't turning off. I would get sleep paralysis after maybe 10 minutes, I couldn't move and I'd have insane images flashing in my head like aliens and mutant people having sex. Once I was trying to sleep and all of a sudden it was like there was a massive dog in front of my face barking at me. I woke up and nothing there of coarse.
I bought some melatonin to regulate the sleep which helped a lot but the dreams were still really lucid. Other things I got from quitting was cold flashes and shivering, upset stomach and gas, anxiety. Was pretty bad but not dangerous. There was no desire to smoke at all though. The biggest mistake I made, so I learned, was NOT smoking. Weed is after all a medicinal plant and would have treated the withdrawal symptoms. The trick is to smoke a very small amount, maybe a puny bowl at night and not everyday, only when the symptoms are bad.
