from my understanding in comparison of the general similarity in all cultures in mystical practice.Mysticism is a bit of shamanism. Real mysticism is inner study of yourself in understanding the natural world, and in knowing your true nature. It is the tuning of the senses through physical exercise and inner reflection. the discipline of the mind body. etc.
Ancient Egyptians believed you have more then 5 senses or 6 senses. more along 100'sOver all in a nutshell its an attempt to unify the body so that you act in alignment and agreement of all your parts and higher universal energies.
for example. you have a left right side of the brain opposite modes of processing. sometimes you are in conflict with 2 sides of the brain in making choices or one side is more dominant like todays society.. Also in some mystical traditions there is mind in organs such as your heart, and lower stomach. in toaism its called lower dantian. like you have a gut feeling and your brain starts telling something else and your heart is feeling something else in conflict. Knowing your true nature is important in that regard and all levels acting in unison and consciousness.unification of self, moral in tuned action, strength, intuitive understanding of nature, heightened awareness, expansion of senses, wisdom, along the lines of what a healthy individual is.
some practices like to ad immortality but not in human form but more of having control of energy in your body. etc.I think the ideal structure of a mystical practice is something like this.
Physical exercise to strengthen the body.. is always the first step..
Forms such as Indian Yoga, Tibetan Yoga, Martial arts,Inner work.
Meditation, Inner martial arts practice. some type of combo. etc.The inner work leads to greater understanding of yourself, leading to greater understanding of the outer world.
Then mental work such study of,
Math, Music, Sacred Geometry, Astronomy, cosmology.
Study of ArchetypesAlso your comment on Gnosticism.. Its originality is supposed come from pagan shamanic sages. not Christianity.
ok so that it and dont shoot the messenger.
- well thanks for sharing. I mean it. it is interesting. however do you think it has direct connection with religion?pango
- or it's just another forms of energy that exist in this world independently with out the whole god thing?pango
- I think religions are just systems of control.. I think there are laws and principle but more in tune with nature.yurimon
- Most religions try to deal with cause and effect... but they tend to try to recreate the world in their favor.yurimon
