I'll also tell you why I no longer work at Nike and why I have a huge chip on my shoulder... Nike retail was my dream job, I was "pardon my arrogance" and "french"... FUCKING GOOD at it... I loved that job, I loved working at Nike... That was my motherfucking dream and dream job... I moved to Portland to work at Nike and did it and worked my ass off. I was making between $60-90 per hour at Nike retail design. I was initially hired on for a two week gig to design the Niketown Las Vegas wall because I know basketball and I know Nike retail (I initially worked at Nemo design here in Portland redesigning all the Niketowns). It turned out perfect and people like Adrian N (see link above and Mark Parker, CEO loved it). It was my niche, I got really good at retail design because I worked my ass off. Long story short, two weeks turned into 7 months of continuous retail design freelance. Right before the holiday break of 2011, I was told I would no longer have a job after working between 55-80 hours a week and being told I "set the gold standard at Nike and was going to be hired on". I was making really good money working on really good projects - this announce crushed my soul. No joke. Shorlty after finding that out, Adrian quit Nike DTC, hired two of his friends instead of me and left me out on the pavement. I had one week of work and work on this:

Another long story short, I designed and worked my ass off again on this project (Nike DTC reclaimed signage) and was in charge of going to a metal shop to get these signs laserjet cut. While I was there, a retail design firm I won't name names, was there making some shitty ass promo item. They were brass knuckles with the words "love, hate, and fail"... I still have one to remind myself of this story. I asked if I could have a few to take back to my friends and designers on the team at Nike DTC. The owner of the metal shop said I could have some, I took them. No big deal, RIGHT!? Wrong, the next day I finish the project and my design director comes in and won't make eye contact with me. He lets finish the project at the metal shop and the next day I go into Nike I get a text from him saying where are you? I tell him I pulling up to the parking. I open the doors and the freelance manager in charge of freelancers like myself fires me.
- I meant "this announcement" crushed"... I'm tired. Laugh all you want at my story. This is life.********
