    It was a good run while it lasted, but I was laid off from The San Diego Union Tribune on Friday. Yup, the digital age continues it's indiscriminate assault on print media. While newspapers across the nation are struggling to monetize print news through readership and advertising, both are shrinking fast. As of this morning U-T San Diego has laid off close to 50 employees since Friday. C'est La Vie and Happy New Year!
