i find the prospect of multiple species of man existing at the same time and interbreeding to be a much more dramatic and interesting story than "god did it". i wish these periods were explored more in film and literature as they composed much more of our history than the recent few thousand years...
jean auel did a great job with the clan of cave bear saga but it could be explored much much deeper
