my guess is that walter lives in anonymity for a while and down the road, since he's unable to return to society in any meaningful way, he begins cooking again and picking up where fring left off.
the ricin is misdirection and is only retrieved as to signify he's back in business. it's always been his backup weapon to overthrow or take out someone in his way - so presumably he's needing it to re-enter the world he left.
