They are just a little slow these days. I think their stock price is pretty representative of where the company is. They changed the world, but to do it again is pretty far fetched. They are playing it safe and it is making them look old and slow.
I'll give iOS7 a fair shot and play with the 5S, though I saw 0 difference with the 5. I won't wait 2 more years for something "new", though, and doubt the rest of the world will either.
Yeah, chossy, that is hideous, but people love expressing their bad taste, so I am sure these obnoxious colors will soon be in a teenager near you's hand. :-)
