crazy woman with autistic kid I know posted this:
" tomorrow is Autism Awareness Day & I call BULLSHIT. Being aware of autism is NOTHING. Being aware of autism means NOTHING. Being aware of autism is not helpful to my child. I beg for a Autism Understanding Day. 1 day. 1 day & on that day no one would stare or grunt or roll their their eyes at my child & I. 1 day - & on that day people would not avert their eyes when my child stormed into a room & shouted nonsense - one day that people would acknowledge my child & answer his way too jaunty greeting & ask about HIS day... & look past the obvious disability & see Joe's wit & intellect & sass & humor. 1 day."
The kid's a maniac and she wants people to accept him. I wish it were possible but it ain't going to happen.
