    There was a brief moment before they became popular...I think the first two records were released on the British techno label Soma before they got signed a major. But you're right they made it big fast. But back then it was viewed as a niche audience whereas now they are basically one of the biggest pop bands (new album is already #2 on iTunes right below Justin Timberlake)
