I turned down a big pop singer down here for a music video a few months back. besides the ridiculous 3 week deadline she needed the video done in because of a telehit/vh1 time thing because of the radio aired track release date, whatever, I understood that and was willing to work on it 24/7 to get it done, even considering it takes a week just to write out the shots/angles and thats after you found the locations/talent and thats after the concept is even written, but whatever, i was going to do the best i could with the time given.

I ended up dropping her as a client because she didnt want to shoot on a monday or a tuesday, just because it was the beginning of the week, no other reason. with a 3 week deadline? fuck that diva crap, I ended up taking another lower paying job and giving the gig to a buddy of mine, she was pissed, and still is to this day. after the production my buddy said it was "THE worst production experience of his life" besides the tight deadline, she showed up late to every shoot, not ready, they lost days because of lighting. he was editing like a zombie. I'm glad i dropped her. if she ever hits me up again, im going from 100k - 300k (thats pesos btw, not much in US) and no deadline.
the 200k will be "pain in the ass tax"

    • after crew/equip that would have left me w/ only 35kmoldero
    • uhhh, $35K is excellent for 3 weeks!monospaced
    • that's $24K tops (if 300) meaning $8K w/o PITA tax before production costsalbums
    • and if he means 35K peso, that's about $2,800 USDalbums
    • < yupmoldero
    • the job I took was only 1.5k US but it was for just shooting 5 daysmoldero
    • BAD business decision. You care too much. There are shoots where you do it for $ and some where you do it for ambition.pr2
    • well a 2 month production in just 3 weeks in nothing ambitious and it would have made me look badmoldero
    • & $$ wize im not that desperate.
      I do just fine.

    • i would consider this one of the best business decisions ive made in a while considering the other project i took was making more than 1/2 in 1/3 of the timemoldero
    • more than 1/2 in 1/3 the time + im now known as the guy who turned down this particular pop starmoldero
