    I think the problem is the stupidly inflated sizes available in the US. Not just soda. A portion size should be what is recommended by nutritionist etc. In the UK if you look at a 500ml bottle of coke it says on the side 'per serving' and then tells you that the bottle contains two servings. As if anyone is going to save half the bottle for tomorrow.
    So I get why NYC are doing this, because let's face it if 16 fl oz is already two servings why would you want to sell someone more than 2 servings in the guise of only being one. That's the kind of mentality that causes obesity. The mindset that it's socially acceptable to eat or drink that much in one sitting. This new law would in theory change perceptions over time so that it's not acceptable to drink huge sugary drinks anymore. In the same way that you're shunned for smoking in California.

    Those 7Eleven Big gulp things are insane. As are the sizes in Starbucks:
