Why are any of them famous? I hope 2013 brings an end to the "rock star" designer. The guy who lives in a continual NY circle-jerk of awards shows, monographs and lectures. The guy who presents over and over AND OVER again the same style of work that is more concerned with fitting his ego than shoving a client's problem. The guy that has insulated himself with enough people telling him he is "now & hot" - that are also considered "hot" because they put out publications stating so. The designer who hosts his own work in galleries, thus elevating his repetitive and insular drivel to the level of "fine art".

Peter Saville is not this guy. He's a smart and clever designer that makes thoughtful, emotional and classic work. It's referential in the best ways.

    • Nothing wrong with art or making personal work. What bothers me is when you see someone give the same lecture or advice more than once.newuser
    • Designers in NY think they are the best and work so hard to be on top and to afford expensive rents. Reality = no one outside cares.newuser
