Qualities required in Design Portal

whoa... much respect from all of ya guys! all opinion make sense.
I mean, some of the reason i started this post is because I did submit some work at a design portal and they totally rejected my work and give some excuse of 'high and quality of work needed' ..something like that. So, I wonder, what kind of quality they want? I mean I did full research on Asian based culture elements for almost 4 month, come up with some different flavor and visual approach, been working real hard to give something unique and still disqualify. So that's why I ask NT citizen, what kind of quality they want, cause I'm not a pro, and I cannot do something like Joshua Davis or what Onyro did, it will take years to do work like that. I really admire their enthusiasm and creativity.
I'm not saying that my work really that unique, but I manage to stay far a bit from the stereotypes.. so what's wrong being unique rite?
