  In Venice may I suggest the water or the boardwalk, other than that, have a bite at Zelda's on the boardwalk. great breakfast sandwiches. you'll probably eat at a dozen places before you ever find it though, lots of great food there.

  on the way to Abbott Kinney where you can shop, socialize, and really see the diversity without so many homeless people (compared to the boardwalk).

  Then there's always Santa Monica and the Promenade. But I really suggest you set aside a few hours and simply drive up PCH past Malibu. That is so damn relaxing.
