I liked it more than The Wire. There, I said it.
The Wire was great, painfully realistic, brilliantly written and executed. Yet I liked Lost more for one reason:
Problems of virtually every character in The Wire could be solved using one piece of advice: "You live in a shithole, move out of Baltimore you moron. Why are you doing this to yourself?"
This clip applies to everyone in this show, they are all free people, getting entangled in this God's forsaken city's shit for no reason. There even is an episode when one of the ghetto kids moves out, to show any of them easily could if they wanted.
The crew of Lost however were put in a situation they had no control over - cast away on a freak island. It was unrealistic, simplistic, etc but it was immensely engaging — case in point, Horp watched it all.
- Using even 1/3 of the plot line from Gilligan's Island would have served them well.mg33
- Before someone picks up on it, I'm not seriously comparing these shows. The Wire's Baltimore is America...raf
- ...and it's not like everyone can just leave. Only the smarter ones, hahaha.raf
- because these people don't make the type of money to leave balitmore easily.colin_s
- They can but they love Baltimore too much. It's Stockholm syndrome. Only Stockholm isn't such a hole :Draf
