This has been going on my entire life. Both sides are so hard-headed, unwilling to try and put themselves in the others' shoes. Which is ironic given both their histories. Throw religious fundamentalism in there, whether extreme or merely right wing and it's not surprising this story has not found an end yet.
I have no sympathy for either side. A belligerent government on one side and a terrorist one on the other. Both are equally wrong. You'd think in 2012 civilisation would have come far beyond this kind of violence. But no, still suck in the dark ages.
But...it's important to separate religion from nationism/nationality. Remember that jews and muslims from around the world condemn both sides actions. Yes Israel is a jewish state, but Israelis are not all jewish, and not all jews support israel. Judaism is a religion not a nationality. I also don't know any muslims that support Hamas either.
It would be nice for same rational thought on both sides, but then, that's very unlikely given the history of this conflict.
