on the first issue, that's exactly what they want, that's the strategy. israel must have enemies. i don't want to get into deeper discussions about politics but all that is about an ultra-capitalist-militarist-teoc... that would do anything, including risking people's lives to get to power and keep it. nobody cares about palestinians or even israelis. that's all this is about. a continuous conflict suits both sides by the way.as per the religious dimension i haven't come across anything implying such a thing. but i am not particularly interested in religion so i may be wrong. i'd say no, because, take a look at a right-wing pro-war rally in tel aviv a few days ago, lead by a religious member of parliament. if you understand hebrew or can get somebody to translate for you, you won't hear second coming, but you'll hear much, much worse things about the so called "left" across the street holding an anti-war demonstration. that in my view is the mainstream religious view and that is israel for you my friend.
