-The Last Bookstore in downtown is an awesome independent book store and has a huge, maze-like and full of art/decoration $1 section where you could get lost for hours. Plenty of restaurants, art galleries, and bars in the area too.

-Hit up Opening Ceremony on La Cienega Bl for the hippest of high fashion.

-Amoeba records (On Sunset Bl) is one of the best record stores anywhere. Then head across the street to Hennesy & Ingalls book store for amazing design (and art) books.

-If you want bomb Mexican food in LA you gotta go to a food truck, most of the shops aren't up to par in my experience. Taco Zone in Echo Park (by the Vons) is awesome or the el Pastor tacos from Tacos Leo (usually on Venice Bl) are the dankest ever. Also amazing is Ricky's Fish Tacos (not actually a truck, more a stand) on Virgil (across from another Vons) in Hollywood.

-Dim Sum at Empress Pavilion in Chinatown is great, and you can walk around the area afterwards. Besides the general Chinatown shops, and right near each other you can find Ooga Booga and Flock Shop, two cool art/design related boutiques. There are some galleries in the area too.
