I dont see anything magical about gold. You cant eat so its not only solution.
I see your point about history, blah blah.. The issue of how money is created and by who is an issue of who ends up with power.
Think what you want. I am sure the super rich have their own reserves of gold, silver and will not give it up as a foundation any time soon. Just because of masses are ignorant the basics doesnt change the fact that its only as good as the network or infrastructure flows smoothly.try transferring money when you internet is down. The point of having ability to be self sustaining is that if there are disruption in the system like no power or access to digital credits. your basically have a backup method that is universal.
nothing extreme like you make it out to be...and yes safety is an issue with shortages so when cops cant help its good to hold your own. thats a virtue anywhere you go from streets of the bronx to texas.
