    My favorite app for the past few years has been Textmate also.

    Textmate + iTerm (or terminal) + a good source control manager like Git or SVN is all you really need.

    Lots of developers are also into VIM - which is the same across all platforms (win, mac, linux) - but I never got into it for more than editing things on the server.

    I'm of the mind you really don't need an IDE for python (or ruby/javascript/html which is what I primarily code)
