The refs actually made the right call as stated by the NFL, and the replay officials are NOT replacements. They're a part of a different association than the field refs, so the same guys that reviewed scoring plays last year reviewed this and ruled it a TD for Seattle.

The play was ruled a simultaneous catch. Both players hands were on the ball from the time it got to them until when they hit the ground, and the rule states this goes to the receiver by default.

Change the rule, dont blame the refs for this one. Now that they review all scoring plays, they could change that rule to see who has MORE possession of the ball. That was definitely not a clear cut INT by the rule since both guys were fighting for the ball through the entire play until it was blown dead.

    • it wasn't simultaneously caught, though, tate didn't have possession.colin_s
    • Uh, he was touching the ball. Read the rule.CygnusZero4
    • Touching the ball doesn't have anything to do with it. Which one of those guys would you have given it to if it was a fumble recovery?mathinc
