    So I was just saying above that the problem with a lot of these campaigns is that they are treating it too much like a retail exchange not a financing and development opportunity. I am glad to see that Kickstarter thinks so too...

    They just made a bunch of changes and additions to ensure people don't keep making this mistake. Things like product renderings and simulations won't be allowed, you have to show the product in its current phase of development.

    Also 'risks and challenges' will have to be explained. Meant to inform people about the development process and provide some transparency, which is an important aspect of any investment.

    In time I think both the fundraisers and contributors will learn to be more realistic and savvy about it. Ultimately people will become more engaged in the process rather than making a payment then sitting back waiting for something in the mail.
