Someone asked me if I question what the Bible says about old earth vs. young earth creationism, and if so would I not be questioning the validity of Scripture in its entirety.

Fair questions, but first: I don't question the validity or authority of the Bible. Second, the original Hebrew word for "days," i.e. "On the first day, God made the heavens and the earth," can mean a large chunk of time: a generation, an age, an aeon. So there is some ambiguity in meaning there.

Either way, I believe all things tangible and intangible have their origin in God. And if he's capable of creating universes ex nihilo, I really don't give a shit if he decided to complete the work in 7 trillion years, 7,000 years, or 7 nanoseconds. He could've done whichever suited him. I tend to believe he's a fan of delayed gratification.

    • Cool. So pretty much, you can bend anything in that book to suit your beliefs. Sounds reliable!!CanHasQBN
    • God's a big fan of war, famine, disease and pedofielia as well.aaux
    • No, not at all. I care very much about meanings and origins, which would be obvious if you weren't being so obtuse.gramme
