Having a gun to protect yourself isnt normally about fighting against any regime, especially in the US.
There are home invasions in every state every day of every year. People are killed regularly by people breaking in looking to steal. You feel safe knowing this? It's great piece of mind to have a weapon available to protect your family. Most people with registered weapons for protection from home invasions dont exactly go on shooting sprees at movie theaters or wherever else, so you cant lump them all into 1 category.
Ban guns and the people that want to use them to kill people will get them either way, so a band makes no difference. Really not very hard to understand.
