    That's odd. The red dot is usually a warning that it's shutting down to protect itself from overheating, not a RRoD like failure.

    That said, I have heard of precious few issues with the revised hardware, my own included. You have pets? I know pet hair really has a habit of clogging things up quick.

    All in all, sounds like a lemon, your new/repair one should likely be better.
