Re: Prohibition/drugs/alchohol.
If I choose to take illegal drugs I am doing so with the knowledge that it may harm me. I couldn't, for instance, make a fist full of reefers and walk into a shopping mall and kill people with them. The same goes for cocaine, E, MDMA, Ketamine etc. In fact, given the right venue you'd probably be elevated to some kind of super-hero-drug-fairy.
Guns, on the other hand, sole purpose is to deter, injure or kill yourself or a third party. To suggest that the market for guns would be any where near as large if gun laws were incredibly restrictive or even banned is folly at best. Therefore, the subsequent creation of super-criminals is difficult to understand, I just can't see that there is a valid argument.
I have no answer to the problem of guns in the US but part of solving it is admitting there is a problem in the first place. This year in the US, 500 kids will find a gun at home or at a friends/relatives and accidentally kill themselves. There's one reason right there.
