I find it interesting that they are quite willing to turn their backs on a generation who will probably not have read said books (or even know about them for that matter), just because they don't like the way it is adapted. I know for a fact that when the LOTR films came out there was a massive resurgence in the popularity of the original books - is that really a bad thing? There is also the obvious thing about royalities ie they'd make a fuck tonne, but I guess they are pretty well off regardless...
