I work with a lot of people that go through gopro's like paris hilton goes through d*cks, and they all love them. I only had one and I used it underwater a couple times w no problem and I had mine for nearly a year.
Water housing is a sensitive thing, you must leave it closed even when not in use, because if something like dirt or even hair comes near the rubber, theres a chance that this can help water to leak the next time you use it, but this applies to any photo housing.
I have read about this before I got mine, so I always kept it closed.
On the other hand, it could've been just bad luck and the case was defective, in which case I recommend you try again w customer service (try over the phone and skip the first person that talks to you and ask to speak to a manager) I've heard their customer support is even better than their products, and if it only been 6 months they should give you some sort of warranty.
