I arrived into Cairo a few years ago by bus, it was dusk and there was this moment where the whole right side of the sky turned black - blotted out by the great pyramid. It was the weirdest most unnatural feeling of unnease, majesty, history... I can't explain it. This happened over and over again whilst in Egypt, my mind getting lost in these ancient structures, artifacts and artwork. Truly amazing.
On the flip side of this, were the Egyptian people (mostly men)... the most vial, unfriendly, racist, sexist mother fuckers I've every come across. I know which side of the coin should be demolished, and it aint the ruins of an ancient culture.
