It's designed to have experiences beyond the mobile game equivalent. There is a lot of power on the mobile devices now (HD graphics and all), but you really have limits to the depth of a game you can create when the consumer is mainly looking for quick and random entertainment/distraction.
Now that platform can be harnessed to create full games without having to create a new ecosystem. There have been MANY great mobile games where I have cursed having to use touch controls. Now that is solved as well.
Plus the hacking and emulation will be fantastic. Even if Steam created a console, it would likely be locked down and very restrictive. I feel if they keep the $99 tag, and market it online only, there is a place for this.
