This movie is getting alot of hype mostly because of those "holes". If you google after something like "david say to engineers" you get shitload of forum threads, this would not of happen if it was translated /explained. This is pretty much how Lost was aswell, lots of mystery, lots of forum threads, lots of nerds diving into their own fantasy ideas. Might be the real reason why Lindelof was hired.
I guess this is an obvious strategy to get the second movie made (sucks that it is years from now though...) but still this might proove to be efficient..

Ofcourse the movie has some serious issues, such as characters doing awfully idiotic things (this has been mentioned before. Or cliches such as "shit happening at last minute, such as elizabeth running out of oxygen just seconds before reaching into a deck, or meredith escaping in a pod just seconds before the whole suicidal ship thing, or the weather change where everyone escapes last minute except two idiots..."- in any given situation this could happen some will make it some will not etc.74LEO
