I have a lot of tattoos, first I would ask your tattooer, because different inks and tattooing styles heal differently.

I am being tattooed with the tebori style which uses sumi ink which heals totally differently than other inks, and some inks such as white will heal for a very long time and need more afftercare.

What I find works for me is after I remove my bandage I wash my tattoo with cetaphil or other very mild soap, then I keep neosporin on it. I apply it very liberally for the first few days then I switch to Aveeno. Everyday I moisturize with aveeno and the times that my arms are exposed to the sun ( t-shirt or whatever ) I use sunscreen that I got from my dermatologist ( just takes a referral from your GP and it's as cheap as regular sunscreen )

My left sleeve is 6 years old and looks brand new. Take care of it and it'll take care of you. Enjoy your ink!
