  See the thing about Battleship is if it were intelligently written with a story really intricately and cleverly written about strategy it could work, but they hired a bunch of hacks to work on it so it's just total throw away trash.

  If you handed Battleship to an intelligent director, like I guess someone modern like Chris Nolan, you think this would be the result? Not even remotely close. It would be very cleverly written.
