  FYI
  sometimes burning an OS9 CD fails
  so make sure you've got a legit OS9 CD

  if so - another thing is if the OS9 CD is not the one that came with the iMac it won't boot.

  the first version of OS9 might not have hardware support for that iMac if it's newer than the OS9 CD

  I've run into that issue before - and it's a pain.

  You need the original iMac OS9 CD or an OS9 CD from a newer Macintosh machine.
