What is your point or question? The designer might think he is helping you out. You as a developer and him or her as the designer should be working together to build the final product. You should have a solid relationship with that person and at very least a defined process that you both follow. If you are crying about slices on a message board I fear the result of your final product. Well I do not fear the result in fact, I do not really care.
