I find this interesting...
Think of that iconic image of the Tiananmen Square "Tank Man." It's still a potent visual touchstone after all these years.
Now, this man's identity has never been fully confirmed. Nor is it known whether or not he's living.
According to Wikipedia:
Memories of the event appear to have faded within China itself, especially among younger Chinese people, due to lack of public discussion. The Chinese government censors almost all web content on the 1989 Tiananmen protests.
One theory as to why the "Unknown Rebel" (if still alive) has never come forward is that he himself is unaware of his international recognition.
