100% serious thought : whatever zippy dippy laptop bag you buy, consider stuffing it into a non-flashy backpack between the time that you walk out your front door and the moment that you arrive at a client site (if you're a contractor) or get to the office (if you take it to work).
Toting a laptop around in a laptop bag increases your risk of mugging or snatch-and-run theft by about 10,000 %.
There's something about a bag that's used exclusively to hold expensive electronic equipment that just screams "STEAL ME!" to the criminal masterminds out there.
