I've had a few illustration interns that I intended to turn into assistant jobs, but their abilities just weren't where I needed them to be, and they moved on. Interns started out unpaid for a short term, then were paid.
I'd happily pay someone good money to be my assistant, but haven't yet found a good match, skill-wise. I've got way more work than I can handle, but can't find someone who can really help. There are a ton of unskilled people looking for work, sad but true.
