    Mungo,

It is unfortunate that your expectations have not been met with (mt) Media Temple. My name is Chris Lea, Director of Operations at (mt) Media Temple. I am here to help you and other Newstoday members however I can. If neededyou can even email me directly and I will be happy to help you or providemore explanation of our services and policies.

Dating back to the beginning of our company, it has always been our policyto cancel and delete accounts in a timely manner once we have received the required fax. This is in fact what we have found our customers ultimately want. If for instance we were to leave the service activated for some period of time, DNS problems may occur that would interfere with normal Internetconnectivity of your new site. (Example: several thousands of users on the(mt) Media Temple network would not see the correct site).

The policy regarding the deletion of the account files and removal of services such as email, ftp, etc., is clearly stated on our cancel service page at the (mt) Media Temple web site here:

    http://www.mediatemple.net/suppo…

Specifically, the part under "Important considerations" where it reads:

"Once an Account or Service is cancelled all data associated with theAccount or Service is permanently deleted from (mt) Media Temple's servers, and backup systems. Should you wish to reinstate service with (mt) Media Temple, all normal setup fees will be applied and your content and settings will need to be re-uploaded."

Additionally, on the "Help Switching Hosts" page here:

    http://www.mediatemple.net/getst…

we outline quite clearly that when moving between hosting providers you should have your new hosting service in place and operational before canceling your current one.

Of course we are sorry that your expectations were missed, just as we are sorry that you are no longer a customer. However, I don't really know of a clearer way to express our policies than the links above. If anyone does, again please feel free to email me directly.
