The problem for Romney is that he wasn't just a rich guy who did well in business. Typical routine would be to buy a company (through leveraged buyout) that is struggling, cut benefits or fire workers. Then use the savings to take out loans, and then use the loans to pay off Bain Capital. A lot of times after that they would just abandon the company at that point, having used it to make money for Bain.
Sort of reminds you of the Republican plan for austerity. Eliminate the benefits (retirement programs), extract the savings through tax cuts, and you have "paid back" your investors. No wonder they want Romney as President.
Of course, Gingrich may not have the money to get this message out there but you can bet you will be hearing a lot about it during the general election.
